President’s Report – April ’19

Communication is important. When I was appointed as CORBA’s new president, I made a commitment to myself that I would follow up each month’s board meeting with a quick message to the community. My goal is to provide brief updates on what is happening at the organizational level, in the hopes of opening up communication and encouraging community involvement. I invite you to follow along, share with others, and reach out if the mood strikes you. And so, here it goes…

Last week, the Board of Directors met, with myself and Treasurer Chris McDonald attending as the two newest board members. Youth cycling and social activities were among the topics. We agreed upon and approved a proposal to work with local NICA middle-school and high-school mountain bike teams to help them earn funding and develop their athletes into advocates for trails and the mtb community. We also agreed on a plan to revamp and revive “Bikes & Beers”, a regular social gathering some of you long-time members might recall from CORBA’s early days. Expect an all-ages event, with a brand new name and format, where you can hang with other riders and runners and discuss hot topics with board representatives and community guests.

The board has also started to review and talk about results from March’s Singletrack Community Survey. I strongly encourage everyone to check out what your fellow trail users had to say. Click here to see the survey results summary.

Thanks, everyone. See you on the trails (as soon as they dry out)!
